Emmett Acres was built over a span of 1 1/2 years on 19+ acres of land. We moved in on December 17, 1992. Just in time for Christmas. This was our first new home in more than 30 years of marriage. During the construction of the home, we lost Monty's mother and my mother. This slowed the building extremely. We resumed building knowing that none of our parents would ever see our dream home. After this long and trying time, our home was finished.

On Mother's Day 1993, I surprised Monty by the placement of our new driveway sign officially naming our home, "Emmett Acres" after her father, Emmett C. Parnell (1917-1988). This was the name until we started our alpaca farm. Now our farm is known throughout the county as "Emmett Acres Alpaca Farm."
